Two things here, one is they didn't wait for the answer to come.  When you are waiting on God, do just that, wait on God.  Second, they immediately filled Moses' spot.  When you get impatient do not look for a substitute for God because it will not end the way God intended it for you. So, be patient and except no substitute.
