Proverbs 10:31-32 NLT
The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, but the tongue that deceives will be cut off. The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.

The words we speak are very powerful as these two verses bring to light.  The first verse tells me a wise person gives good advice, and it also gives us a consequence for telling a lie.  The second verse gives us a description of how we can discern a person's character by the words they speak.
